Any organization operating in India for a minimum of three years is eligible to apply for the Award. This includes:
Established corporations with significant operations
Individual divisions or subsidiaries
Growing businesses with limited scale
Innovative new ventures
Businesses with multiple units are advised to apply separately for the HR Excellence Award. This approach is recommended to enhance the value of assessments, maintain the integrity of recognitions, and ensure an adequate representation of organizational complexity and process maturity.

Senior managers from the industry are chosen as Assessors after undergoing an intensive 3-day HR excellence assessment program to understand the award criteria and assessment process.
Applicants need to send the 50-page (maximum) Position Report (7 hard copies) to CII.
An Assessor team is assigned to each applicant. Assessors individually identify strengths/opportunities for improvement and score as part of self-study and pre-consensus. The team then meets at the site to reach a consensus score, followed by site visits to validate the application and address any queries. Applicants are re-scored, and reports are finalized. Typically, this process lasts for 4 to 5 days.
Organizations that score 650 and above become eligible for the Jury Round. This round is applicable to all three recognition levels: Industry Leadership in HR Excellence, Benchmark Leadership in HR Excellence, and World-Class.
The Assessment team provides feedback report to the award admin who will share it with all applicants, identifying strengths/opportunities for improvement. Score ranges are also provided for each criterion. Upon request, Senior Assessors will clarify unclear points on a virtual call with the applicant to discuss the feedback report in case of a need.
The HR Excellence Award, Prizes, and Commendations are presented to the winning applicants in the HR Confluence culminating the process.
